Tuesday Roundup: A Bunch of United Stuff…

- I’m traveling, so I’ll be the last blogger on earth to mention that United has a new partnership with Marriott that allows United Elite members (except Silver Elite) to get Gold Status with Marriott (and Marriott Platinum members to get Silver Status with United). Marriott Gold Status is helpful because you get lounge access, breakfast and free Internet (which I get anyway when I’m traveling for business because, let’s be honest, I’m going to expense those things).

- United is canceling its Newark – Istanbul service beginning October 26th.

- United is also dropping its Newark-Buenos Aires service beginning September 29th.

- For reasons I’m not sure I understand, Allegiant will launch nonstop service from Austin to Las Vegas this fall, going head-to-head with Southwest. I though Allegiant liked to stay out of everyone’s way? What am I missing here?
