Air Berlin’s New Business Class Is Now Available (At Least on 1 Aircraft)

Air Berlin will be rolling out its new fully lie-flat seats in business class across its A330 fleet this year, with the first aircraft (registration D-ALPD) now flying between Dusseldorf and Abu Dhabi.

These seats are the same as those found in Etihad’s business class, which is either a coincidence or not particularly surprising, as the Abu Dhabi-based carrier owns 29% of Air Berlin.

This is worth noting because British Airways only requires 80,000 Avios points for a roundtrip ticket from New York to Dusseldorf or Berlin in Business Class, with no fuel surcharges. The retrofitted A330s are not yet available on the route, but they should be this year.
