Not sure why I’m writing about ANA 2 days in a row, but they will launch nonstop 787 service from San Jose, California, to Tokyo Narita beginning January 11th. 5-day a week service will be on Mon, Wed, Fri, Sat and Sun.
ANA is a Star Alliance partner, and (assuming you can find availability) it’s a great way to use that 90,000 mile Japan Business Class award from US Airways (let me re-write that: you can use 90,000 US Airways miles to go roundtrip to Japan in Business class). For those new to this, you can transfer Starwood points into US Airways to help bulk up that balance.
ANA’s economy award availability is usually pretty good, but their business class award availability leaves something to be desired. View from the Wing has mentioned that they will sometimes open seats up a few days before departure, so don’t be afraid to book the coach ticket and change it to biz later.
The San Jose flights are not yet loaded as of this morning, though they should be soon.
