US Airways is rolling out premium food options (dubbed DineFresh) in their coach cabin on flights to Europe, the Middle East and South America.
What makes the premium? Why, they cost $19.99. That’s certainly a premium price for your choice of:
– A Caprese salad with balsamic dressing, Portobello mushroom tortellini, Mediterranean-style appetizer and turtle cheesecake for dessert.
– Citrus-marinated chicken skewers, seasonal grilled vegetables, classic shrimp cocktail and creme brulee cheesecake for dessert.
(Check out the nice box they come in).
For under $20, the meal also comes with “complimentary wine” inasmuch as you would consider it “complimentary” when you’re paying $20 for tomato, mozzarella and some tortellini.
Meals must be ordered 24 hours in advance.
Buried deep in that release is really the best news of all: “Based on customer input, the airline is also adding the popular spicy cherry soda, Pibb Xtra®, to its complimentary line-up of sparkling Coca-Cola beverages.”
