Psst…Wanna Pay $19.99 for a Coach Meal on US Airways? Now You Can! Just Like You Always Dreamed About!

US Airways is rolling out premium food options (dubbed DineFresh) in their coach cabin on flights to Europe, the Middle East and South America.

What makes the premium? Why, they cost $19.99. That’s certainly a premium price for your choice of:

– A Caprese salad with balsamic dressing, Portobello mushroom tortellini, Mediterranean-style appetizer and turtle cheesecake for dessert.
– Citrus-marinated chicken skewers, seasonal grilled vegetables, classic shrimp cocktail and creme brulee cheesecake for dessert.

(Check out the nice box they come in).

For under $20, the meal also comes with “complimentary wine” inasmuch as you would consider it “complimentary” when you’re paying $20 for tomato, mozzarella and some tortellini.

Meals must be ordered 24 hours in advance.

Buried deep in that release is really the best news of all: “Based on customer input, the airline is also adding the popular spicy cherry soda, Pibb Xtra┬«, to its complimentary line-up of sparkling Coca-Cola beverages.”

Pibb Xtra!

  1. Someone at US is taking the whole “price drives perception” thing too seriously…

  2. Hey, I’ll never buy a $20 box of non-kosher food, but I like Pibb Xtra!

  3. chilled food served with Chile wine. Chilled all around, for another 10 bucks will they heat up the chicken?
