American Airlines to Launch Asuncion, Paraguay

American Airlines will launch nonstop service from Miami to Asuncion, Paraguay, on November 15th. Paraguay is a new country for American, though I recall that they had flown there in the 1990s and prior (feel free to correct me if I’m wrong here).

Flights will operate on a 757 4x per week, departing Miami on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sundays at 11:40pm, arriving at 9:40am the next morning. They’ll return on Wednesday, Friday, Sunday and Mondays at 11am, arriving at 5:05pm.

It’s been at least 20 years since Paraguay has had nonstop service from the US.

  1. I didn’t know that route was popular enough to warrant non-stop flights. Is American grasping at straws, or finding new/profitable markets?

    • American used to fly Miami – Asuncion with a stop in Sao Paulo. With Brazil hosting the World Cup in 2014 and Olympics in 2016, this may be why AA decided to fly to ASU again. There are numerous flights to Brazil from Asuncion. AA will be able to connect them. Brazil’s largest airports are saturated. GRU is not very good.

  2. Very very happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
