JetBlue is offering a great deal on 3 new routes this fall: For $99 each way (plus tax) you can fly from JFK to Barbados (beginning October 1), Kingston (Jamaica) (beginning October 30), or St. Lucia (beginning October 26). You must book by June 17th, and fares are only good for the brief period between launch and November 14th.
JetBlue is hardly going for a Spirit Airlines-type strategy here, but if they can cherry-pick underserved routes from JFK, there seems to be opportunity to build markets to a growing number of Caribbean destinations (even if it’s only 3 times a week, like St. Lucia). That last part is interesting since JetBlue typically flies a daily schedule. If they’re willing to be more flexible with 3x and 4x weekly flights, it certainly opens up the number of Caribbean and Latin destinations they serve.
