Singapore Airlines to Fly All Business Class from LA, NYC

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that in June Singapore Airlines will launch all-business class service between New York and Singapore and LA and Singapore.  How will they accomplish this?  Brilliantly — they’ll keep the same A340 aircraft they currently use and strip out the economy seats, leaving only 100 business class seats for the $8000 round trip flight.  Demand for business class was outstripping supply of the seats, so they’ll optimize their revenues without having to launch an airline-within-an-airline.  Extremely clever.

  1. So what happens if you get into a line inappropriately and hold everyone up?

    I get the feeling it’s gonna be like the “10 items or less” situation at the supermarket. Noone is getting tossed out of line for violating the rules.
