Australians Get a Taste of American-Style Runway Stranding

Passengers on a Qantas flight from Singapore to London got a taste of a good old fashioned runway stranding when their flight was diverted to Delhi after the aircraft had engine problems.  After landing, passengers were forced to sit on the plane for six hours while the airline negotiated with Indian customs officials to let the passengers enter the country.  A settlement was reached to get lodging for the 400 people on board, but continuing flight plans have not yet been made.  Said one passenger: “being in the same clothes for over two days in the Indian heat is becoming uncomfortable.”  That is an understatement.
