I came in today and found that the OTR writers had walked out in solidarity with the television writers, so there won’t be any new posts today. But following in the footsteps of the late night shows, I’ll run a repeat today. This is an oldie-but-goodie from the early days:
From the December 17th, 1798, posting of Olde Man George’s Offline Tra-vel Revue and Almanack:
Benjamin Brothers Speed-y Carriage announced that they shall no longer offer a variety of sweyts and delicacies on its daily journeys from Providence to New Bedford. By the gryace of the Lord, they shall still be making the trip to-night, but they shall offer only mead and the company of a comely lass. What’s next? No pillows on the long journey to Boston-town?
(gee, i better convince those writers to come back)
