Venezuelan Airline: Screw You, USA!

Oct 9th, 2007 | By Jared Blank

I’m not sure I’ve ever seen an airline introduce flights solely to piss off another government, but here we go:  Venezuela’s state airline, Conviasa, has launched flights to Iran, via Syria, from Caracas.  Iran’s national airline, strangely, also launched service from Iran to Caracas, via Syria, last spring.  Must be a lot of demand for that route.  A Syrian official said that the route was launched to combat the harassment Muslims are receiving in the US after 9/11.  Or something.

  1. There’s a great article on the Iran Air flight in the latest Airways magazine.

  2. Bravo, Venezuela!

  3. Good to know….

  4. Muslims are more harassed in europe and the middle east than the USA.
