Dallas Love Airport Fares Drop After Lifted Restrictions

You may remember last year that American Airlines was fighting tooth-and-nail against changing the flight restrictions that plagued Dallas Love airport for years.  Well, turns out (as you would have guessed) that lifting the restrictions has only benefited passengers:  the number of flights has increased 9%, the number of passengers has increased 20%, and fares have dropped more than 20% on some routes.  Yes, American, all of that is terrible for passengers.

On some level I’m impressed that an American spokesperson could say this with a straight face, "I think it’s
true also that anything good that has been generated through the
through-ticketing would have been eclipsed if Southwest had moved to
D/FW and been able to fly anywhere they want in the world…And the resulting decrease in connecting traffic wouldn’t have
happened."
