I've noted 2 here in the past month or so (the Mauritania flight, and one in Botswana). Americans are far more hysterical over the issues brought up by 9/11 than most of the rest of the world. That's a good thing when it comes to hijackings, a bad thing when it comes to shutting down the city of Boston because someone left a Lite Brite in the street. Planes are still hijacked more often than you think. I’ve noted 2 here in the past month or so (the Mauritania flight, and one in Botswana). At that point, in the landing, he was knocked over, boiling water was thrown on him and he was tackled by passengers. After 9/11, it's going to be tough to hijack a plane, gun or not. The writer mentions that two shots were fired, but later says that the guns may have been fake. Also, the article says that the hijacker was overpowered by passengers, but later said that the hijacker gave himself up. When a bunch of people are piled up on top of you, I guess giving yourself up is probably the best option. Maybe these are just discrpancies in what the Mauritanian and Spanish governments reported. 2 odd things in the article.
