Mesa Airlines’ new intra-Hawaii airline announced its name (go!) and fares ($39 each way) for flights beginning June 9th. (Every airline name sounds stupid when they announce it. You’ll get used it. It’s no better or worse than any other name). The carrier will serve Honolulu, Lihue, Kahalui, Kona and Hilo (ie, Oahu, Kauai, Maui and the Big Island) using CRJ 200 regional jets. Aloha and Hawaiian aren’t too happy about this, as you can imagine. Who cares, though, when you can fly nonstop routes for $39 each way and connecting routes for $78 each way. Still doesn’t beat the 5,000 mile roundtrip intra-Hawaii award on United, but it’s a really good deal nonetheless.
