Baggage Cart Hits Ryanair Plane

Nov 21st, 2005 | By Jared Blank

A baggage cart smashed into a Ryanair jet at London Gatwick yesterday, damaging the plane and stranding 185 passengers.  Nobody was injured in the incident, and passsengers were offered refunds.  This piece—that passengers were offered refunds—is actually the notable piece of news.  Ryanair has a pretty strict "no refunds under any circumstance" policy.  It’s good to see that they’re willing to bend that policy slightly when a baggage cart runs into an airplane.

  1. Yes, I found out about Ryanair’s policy a couple of years ago when I tried to get a refund on a partial trip due to a mistake that they had made. I received two very polite “no f*&^%ing way will you get a refund from us” letters. Very civilized, if somewhat annoying.

  2. Ryan Air is SOOOO BAD SOOO BAD!
    1. they say flights to Barcelona - but take you to Reus Airport which is over 60miles away from Barca and takes 1.5 hours by train!! Pathetic!
    2. They dont offer cancellations/refunds even if you want to cancel WAY in advance! My flights are in April but I cant do anything to cancel and they are taking me to OUTSIDE BARCELONA!
    3. THEY CHARGED ME 19 GBP TO PAY BY UK DEBIT CARD???? MY FUNDS HAVE ALREADY BEEN TAKEN WITHIN 1 DAY AND THEY CHARGED ME 19 GBP????? IS THIS FAIR? NOT EVEN CREDIT CARD FEES ARE THAT MUCH WITH ALL OTHER NORMAL MERCHANTS?

    RYAN AIR ARE OUTRAGEOUS!!!!!!!!!!!

WILL NEVER BOOK AGAIN AND WILL LEAVE THIS AWFUL RATING ON AS MANY SITES AS POSS!!!

BTW - I also read other reviews and they basically make their money this way - it can cost you more to change your flight…

    STUPID!!!!
