Air Canada Strips Paint to Save Money

Thanks from OTR reader Sanj for the heads up on this:

Air Canada is stripping paint off its planes and buffing the metal as a way of saving money.  The removal of paint will save, get this, $24,000 (Canadian, I assume) per aircraft in fuel costs.  Who knew?

  1. It’s also why AAs fleet has very little paint.

  2. it’s also why i almost never wear pants

  3. Apparently American Airlines has known this for years, that is why they have only minimal paint on their aircraft, it adds a lot of weight, reducing fuel efficiency. Now YOU know.
