Ryanair CEO Michael O’Leary suggested that with the introduction of gambling on Ryanair flights in 2007, the airline may eventually be able to eliminate airfare altogether. The airline also announced 2 million free seats for sale (I say for sale, as you still pay taxes, fees and "charges" which can add up pretty quickly). Still, the fare is zero, and it’s hard to argue with that. Oh, and Ryanair’s flights aren’t nearly as uncomfortable as you’d think. I’m not sure what I had in mind (3rd class train in India? Subway at 8:30am?), but it’s little different than most other airlines you’ve flown. Dare I say more comfortable than one of Northwest’s 38 year old DC-9s.
