Confirmed Standby on American

American is offering a confirmed standby service where you can confirm a seat on an earlier flight on the same day as your scheduled departure. Simply call them up 3 hours before the departure of the new flight, and if there’s seats available, they’ll give you one for $25. (For full disclosure, Northwest has a similar policy). I’ll give them credit for the this very customer-friendly policy.
