Delta to Cut Flights to Conserve Fuel

Oct 5th, 2005 | By Jared Blank

Following similar moves by American and Northwest, Delta Air Lines announced that it will begin cancelling flights to save fuel. Here’s the bad news if you’re flying Delta: unlike Northwest and American, the airline isn’t cancelling specific flights. Rather, 2 or 3 days before it will decide which flights it will cancel that day. In other words, Delta will give you a call to tell you that your flight will be cancelled in the next day or two. Early morning and late night flights are most likely to be affected. This won’t impact a huge number of passengers, but it’s annoying nonetheless.
