Woman Gives Birth on Aeroflot Flight

Sep 16th, 2005 | By Jared Blank

A woman gave birth to a healthy baby boy during a 12-hour flight on an Aeroflot 767 from Moscow to Los Angeles.  Flight attendants helped with the delivery after two doctors on board refused to help.  Although the birth took place somewhere over Canada, the plane was unable to land at nearby airports because it was too large for the runways.  The flight then continued uneventfully to Los Angeles, where the mother was able to disembark carrying her son.  Nutty.

  1. That is crazy!
What I want to know is this: What kind of Doctor would refuse to help deliver a baby? And if the plane was over Canada, would they still need to fear U.S. mal-practice laws?

  2. They didn’t have the proper equipment to protect themselves from communicable diseases such as AIDS probably.
