Baghdad Airport Closed Over Payment Dispute

Sep 9th, 2005 | By Jared Blank

Hm…your 9am flight from Cleveland to Baghdad will probably be cancelled today:  the company that oversees security for Baghdad Airport closed the facility today because it has not received payment from the government for its workers.  An Iraqi government spokesperson said, "Within hours we will solve the problem… We will pay them.  Special price, just for you.  For you, $37 dollar." (he didn’t say that last part, but he did say they’ll solve the problem).  The US military notes that they are unaffected by the closure.
