Did Delta Leave New Orleans Too Early?

An interesting Wall Street Journal article (sorry, subscription required) notes that Louisiana’s governor has complained that Delta stopped flying out of New Orleans well before other airlines thereby stranding many of its passengers in the city.  Delta stopped flying just after midnight on Saturday, while all other carriers flew much of their schedule on Sunday, most notably Southwest which flew a flight as late as 6pm on Sunday.  It’s easy to look back now and place blame, but I’d prefer to give American, Continental and especially Southwest kudos for ensuring that their passengers were safe.
