Air Zimbabwe Raises Fares 75%

Just as a bunch of US airlines are announcing fares sales, Air Zimbabwe seeks to buck the trend by raising prices by 75% on all of its routes. The Zimbabwean dollar was recently devalued (17,500 to the US dollar—an amazing feat, since it was 55 to the US dollar when I was there in 2002), and airline fares did not reflect that change. Well, they do now. Not that you necessarily wanted to travel there, but in between the devaluation and the hike in fares, you could’ve gotten yourself a pretty good deal to Harare.
