Southwest Proposes Airport Change in Seattle

Jul 25th, 2005 | By Jared Blank

Southwest Airlines, annoyed by increased fees at Sea-Tac airport in Seattle, has proposed moving to tiny Boeing Field in 2009. The airline’s offer includes building a $130 million, 8 gate terminal to make Boeing Field more commercial friendly. Opposition is already up in arms over the move, which may make downtown Seattle a bit noisier. Or it might not. As you might imagine, officials at Sea-Tac are none-too-thrilled about this; also annoyed are all of the other airlines serving Sea-Tac who will now have to pick up a larger piece of a $4 billion reconstruction project at the airport.
