Arabic Assassin Fired as Baggage Screener

Jul 18th, 2005 | By Jared Blank

I’m not even sure what to make of this one: The TSA has fired Bassam Khalaf, a baggage screener at Houston Intercontinental Airport. Here’s the odd part: Khalaf is an aspiring rapper who goes by the name Arabic Assassin. Oh, and he has rapped about flying a plane into a building. And his album is called Terror Alert. Apparently, the government didn’t like that so much, so he was fired. At first it seemed reasonable that you wouldn’t want a guy rapping about terrorism, then checking people’s luggage. But the more I think about it, the more annoying this is: Could any of us be fired from our jobs because of what we say during our off hours? What if Khalaf wrote a novel where he mentioned terrorism? Would be fired for that? What if he said that terrorism was bad? This will probably not be the last we hear of this…

  1. That guy just destroyed his own life by making those moves. But I beleive I found a more positive rap artist who I beleive is also Muslim. His name is WhoSayin? and he is pretty good. I saw his forum on NobodySmiling.com and thought his music is worth listening to. He opens his CD by stating how he is not a thug/gangster type of guy. Here’s his site, http://www.soundclick.com/whosayin
