Northwest Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Tehran

Jun 20th, 2005 | By Jared Blank

If you’ve ever watched the flight map on a flight to Asia, you may have found yourself thinking, "Gee, I sure hope we don’t have to make an emergency landing in Iran or something."  Well, if you were on Northwest’s Amsterdam-Mumbai flight Saturday, you were definitely thinking that because the plane had to make an emergency landing at Tehran’s airport.  No American airlines have flown to Iran since 1979, so the aircraft’s 7 hour visit was quite a shock.  However, after repairs, the plane and its 255 passengers left without incident.
