Singapore Denied Right to Fly Australia-US

The Australian government denied Singapore Airlines the long-sought right to fly nonstop between Australia and the US.  The government is trying to protect Qantas’ marketshare on the route, which provides 15% of the airline’s profits.  Currently on Qantas and United fly the route, which would has rather high fares due to this duopoly.
