Free Travel for Northwest Employees Now Costs $50

Jun 13th, 2005 | By Jared Blank

One of the long-time perks of working for an airline is the free travel.  For Northwest employees, that free travel just got a bit more expensive.  The airline is implementing a $50 fee for an employee to participate in the free travel program (plus $50 for each family member).  While it’s obviously still a great deal, it’s just another one of those perks (along with pretzels, pillows and onboard magazines) that disappear each day.  (though it’s hard to believe we ever thought of pretzels as a perk of flying…but whatever).
