American Expands Food Options

May 3rd, 2005 | By Jared Blank

American put out a press release announcing the expansion of their buy-onboard food program, including several new sandwiches.  Most of them are unnoteworthy (is that a word?), but I was struck by the "ham and cream cheese on raisin bread."  Am I missing something there?  Are those foods that go together?  I spent a short time years back working in a bagel store, and I’m still traumatized by the customer who ordered lox on a cinnamon raisin bagel.  Maybe it’s me.  Maybe I should be more adventurous.  Maybe ham, cream cheese and cinnamon raisin bread is both not abnormal and rather delicious.  I don’t know.  I should probably get a grip.

  1. I thought the same thing – the combination sounds awful.

  2. When I was singin I liked a good ole peanut butter and bannana on white…..

  3. Funny, I was going to mention how my favorite sandwich is peanut butter, banana, rice krispies and marshmallow fluff on toasted white. There really isn’t anything better, except maybe adding bacon. Mmmmm….bacon
