Japan Airlines Plane Told to Land at Closed Runway

May 2nd, 2005 | By Jared Blank

Air Traffic Controllers at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport forgot that a runway was closed and told a Japan Airlines plane to land there.  The aircraft landed without incident because the closed stretch of runway was clear of debris.  The controllers who told the plane to land on the closed runway are being sent for re-training.  I’m sure that makes you feel better.
