Were you looking forward to a flight on the new Virgin America later this year? Well, that dream is over. The airline now says that it will not launch until 2006 because it has not raised the necessary cash ($100 million or so) for launch. The major issue, of course, is the US government’s ridiculous restrictions on foreign airline ownership meaning that Richard Branson (who certainly has the money) can only own 49% of the airline, lest he try to use the carrier to overthrow the US government. Or something.
