20% of Flights Delayed in 2004

Feb 4th, 2005 | By Jared Blank

Did you feel like one in every five flights you took was late in 2004?  Or maybe you felt 20% of your flights were late.  Or 1/5th. . If you felt any of those things, you were right on as the government announced yesterday that 20% of all flights arrived more than 15 minutes late in 2004.  Only 16% of flights were delayed the prior year.  No one airline did wildly better or worse than anyone else, though, if you must point a finger, Delta was the worst of the majors with a 76% on-time arrival rate.

Of the airports, O’Hare was the worst with a 70% on time rate, while Houston Intercontinental was the best with an 87% on time percentage.
