Southwest Seeks Control of ATA

Dec 15th, 2004 | By Jared Blank

The Indianapolis Star is reporting that as part of its bid for ATA’s Midway gates, Southwest Airlines will offer $47 million for a 35% stake in the carrier.  In addition, Southwest would name new executives, pushing out the current CEO, and lower labor costs by 15-20%.  ATA would then exist as a small, Indianapolis-based lowfare carrier (which I predict will be swamped with the full wrath of Northwest Airlines, who has rolled into Indy over the past year).
