Though they are incredibly cheap, Ryanair’s passengers love in-flight movies. In fact, they’re willing to pay about US$8 for them. Ryanair has been testing in-flight entertainment units on some of its flights, and it has seen an average of 30% of its passengers pay for the unit. Ryanair’s average ticket is (off the top of my head) something like $50. If 30 passengers pay $8 for the movie unit, it’s almost as if they sold 5 extra seats on every flight. Whoa.
Ryanair’s CEO also noted yesterday that if oil reached $75 a barrel, the airline would still be profitable.
