Continental Seeks $500 Million in Cuts

Continental has become the last of the legacy carriers to ask for significant givebacks from labor.  The carrier is seeking $500 million in cuts by February 28th.  While its relationship with its unions is far less adversarial than that of most other airlines, it still needs the backing of its pilots union to ensure the cuts are accepted.  That said, the union has already made statements saying that it understands the industry situation and is willing to discuss cuts in exchange for a portion of the benefits when the airline returns to profitability.
