Independence Air Gets Some Good News

Nov 16th, 2004 | By Jared Blank

For the first time since becoming an independent (so-to-speak) airline, Independence Air received some good news:  The airline has renegotiated its leases with Airbus so it no longer has to accept delivery of 10 of its 16 A320s in 2005.  The carrier will receive the aircraft instead in 2007 when, it hopes, it is not on the brink of bankruptcy.  This is huge news for the struggling airline and has bought them a ton of wiggle room—they may actually have a chance now.
