Update on Airplane Water

Nov 10th, 2004 | By Jared Blank

I’ve seen a whole bunch of stories noting that water on commercial airplanes is potentially harmful.  Last night, a local TV station here implied that you should be careful when asking for ice for your drinks on planes.

Well, let me clear something up:  The reports about harmful onboard drinking water to not apply to the water that comes out of a bottle that a flight attendant pours.  That is called bottled water.  Water in bottle = bottled water.  And the ice?  Comes out of a bag.  If local news stations didn’t thrive on scaring people, they would tell you, correctly, that you probably shouldn’t drink water out of the bathroom sink, and that you should stick to the bottled water that they serve off the cart.  That’s it.
