Montreal Mirabel to Close

Nov 1st, 2004 | By Jared Blank

Montreal’s maligned Mirabel Airport will close after 30 years of “unfulfilled promises expectations.” The $500 million airport saw its last flight on Sunday, and some in the provence of Quebec are not happy. Notes the mayor of Montreal: “We’re losing an international airport in Quebec. We’re settling for being a subsidiary of Toronto. This is very negative for the development of a province.” Negative, indeed. All Montreal flights will now go to Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport, which I always thought was called Dorval.
