US Airways Pilots Agree to Cuts

Oct 22nd, 2004 | By Jared Blank

Despite strong opposition from their Philadelphia and Pittsburgh bases, US Airways’ pilots agreed to 18% cuts in pay and reductions in company pension contributions, among other concessions, in a bid to keep the airline afloat. The cuts, which, when you think about it, are extraordinary, are part of a deal that will be in place until 2010. The company needed pilot ratification to induce other unions to give concessions.
