Independence Air Takes Delivery of Jets

Sep 14th, 2004 | By Jared Blank

Independence Air received its first A319 jets yesterday, marking its first non-regional jets. The planes will initially be used on flights to Florida. I only bring this up because the aircraft will be outfitted with generous 33″ pitch (good legroom) and seatback entertainment systems. Yes, those of us who fly old-school mainline carriers suffer with bad legroom and no entertainment unit, while another new entrant provides comfortable, enjoyable seating. Hm, why are the big guys in trouble?
