Bankruptcy Updates: United and US Airways

Sep 2nd, 2004 | By Jared Blank

US Airways’ pilots now say that they are close to a settlement offering a large package of givebacks to help keep the carrier out of bankruptcy. US Airways is looking for nearly $300 million from the pilots, and almost $800 million overall.

I guess you should watch what you say at United Airlines: A day after United’s unions passed a vote of no confidence in the airline’s management and demanded their ouster, the Financial Times is reporting that United will layoff 6000 employees to help the company emerge from bankruptcy.. Following this round of employee cuts, United will have roughly half the number of employees as it did pre-9/11.
