Holiday Inn, Intercontintal Hotels Fight Expedia

Aug 17th, 2004 | By Jared Blank

Intercontinental Hotels Group (owner of Intercontinental Hotels and Holiday Inn) said that they will pull all of their rooms off of Expedia and Hotels.com in 3 months because the websites have not met their standards for customer service. The issues seem to focus on Expedia’s and Hotels.com’s policy of not breaking out taxes and service fees on hotel rooms, and their tendency to tell customers that rooms are not available when, in fact, they are available at rates that generate lower profits for the websites. I’m sure this will get worked out over the next couple of months (as it did when Northwest Airlines and US Airways pulled their seats off Expedia).
