United’s Odd Fares

This is hardly the only example of this, but yesterday United issued a press release stating that they are having a fare sale where flights from Chicago to Buenos Aires are $489 each way. Flights that connect through Chicago to other cities start at $429 each way. Huh? (they will basically pay you $60 to take a connecting flight?)
