Passengers Hold Ghana Airways Pilot Hostage

Aug 11th, 2004 | By Jared Blank

A follow up to last week’s story about Ghana Airways being banned from flying to the US:

A group of passengers stranded at Accra’s airport because Ghana Airways has not been able to fly to the US held a pilot hostage as he tried to board a plane at the airport. Police were able to obtain the pilot’s release rather quickly. Most disturbing is the comment from a Ghanaian policeman:

“They were just giving vent to their frustrations…”

Police didn’t even bother to arrest the hostage takers.
