United Adaps its New York to California Flights

Aug 2nd, 2004 | By Jared Blank

United Airlines will reduce NY-LAX and NY-SFO capacity by 35% beginning in October, conceding that low fare carriers have taken over the routes. Now the good news: They will switch from using 767s to newly reconfigured 757s on these routes. Usually that’s bad news, as the 757 is a single-aisle plane and the 767 is a widebody. However, United will have all Economy Plus seating in coach (34″ of pitch) and the only domestic lie-flat beds in first (there’s also a business class, but there’s not much new there). Even better, the aircraft will have powerports at every seat, in every class. Bravo.
