4,000 Peruvians Stranded

Jul 14th, 2004 | By Jared Blank

I do not know why I am so fascinated with the Aero Continente story I’ve been writing about so much, so I beg your indulgence. In any case, 4,000 passengers were stranded yesterday as a result of the shutdown. The airline was shut down because it could not obtain proper insurance. Its insurance was cut off because its insurer, a British company, had to give up ties to the airline after the US government placed Aero Continente’s founder on the so-called drug kingpin list. Whew.
