LanPeru Ordered to Shut Down

Jul 1st, 2004 | By Jared Blank

A Peruvian judge has ordered LanPeru to shut down in response to a lawsuit filed by a rival airline. The judge said that LanPeru has been operating with “irregular permits” (I don’t know what that means either…perhaps something was lost in the translation from Spanish), and that it must stop flying both domestically and internationally. LanPeru has responded saying that the judge has no authority to shut the carrier down, and that they will continue flying. Quite the soap opera down there…
