US Airways Chapter 22?

May 10th, 2004 | By Jared Blank

In an SEC filing on Friday, US Airways suggested that it may have to enter the dreaded Chapter 22 (a second bankruptcy), unless it can get its costs in order by mid-summer. In the same filing, it noted that it may have to sell its Shuttle operation, which is a shame because flying the Shuttle is actually quite pleasant.

I think I mentioned this last time US Airways was threatening bankruptcy, but if you have US Airways Dividend Miles saved up, you may want to consider booking a ticket on United with those miles. I don’t expect US Airways to liquidate, but the number of routes it flies (especially out of Pittsburgh) could be greatly reduced.
