Air Transport World, an airline industry bible, notes on its front page that Boeing is going to shut the line for the little loved Boeing 717. However, when you click on the link there is no story. And the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, which is usually right on top of Boeing news, lists nothing. Hm. Strange. So, to re-cap, Boeing may or may not be shutting the Boeing 717 line.
And multi-country owned Gulf Air, which has been on a major growth spurt the past few years, announced that it may have grown a tad too quickly and will “optimize” its route network. That means discontinue routes. Alas, if you had a flight booked from Muscat, Oman, to Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania or to Zanzibar you are now out of luck.
